Spring is here and nominations for Fiscal Year 2019 (starts July 1, 2018) Board of Directors and Board Officers are open!
We need a Secretary-Elect, Event Coordinator-Elect, and President-Elect as well as 1 Board member-at-large.
Officer duties are summarized below to help you think about who would be a great fit for these roles. More in-depth role descriptions are available on the Office and Board Member Responsibilities pages- use the link on the left side of the website.
Remember, while we love and appreciate our followers, student and affiliate members, only registered nurse members may nominate and vote. (you CAN self-nominate/volunteer)
Nominations close May 1. Voting begins May 2 and closes May 9. New officers will be announced at our next GB supported event on May 10 at Bricks.

Responsibilities of Secretary
- Records minutes of all Board meetings and posts them to NN after review by the Board.
- Is an active member of the Board, attending all meetings or ensuring the Secretary-Elect is present in his (her) absence.
- Works with the Treasurer to keep an up-to-date membership roster on AACN database.
- Works with the Secretary Elect during their first year to become confident to accept the Secretary role and train upcoming Secretary-Elect.
- Is a Nursing Network Website Moderator and assists the President in keeping the NN website up to date.
- Posts meetings and calendar events, election information, new officers, etc.
Responsibilities for Event Coordinator
- In conjunction with Chapter President, identify possible corporate sponsors for non-CE events, identify possible speakers for CE events, coordinate event details with sponsor in accordance with national AACN guidelines, track event registration and attendance, and broadcast event to members and followers
- At events, in conjunction with Chapter President, greet sponsor(s), speaker(s), participants, oversee sign-in sheets; Introduce Corporate Sponsor/Speaker(s), Introduce AACN GB Chapter Officers/BOD.
- Create/assist in creating flyers for social events and broadcast events to the members and followers
- Broadcast event flyers for events not supported by GB AACN but of interest to AACN members and followers
Responsibilities of President
- Upholds and promotes the mission and standards of AACN and the Great Basin Chapter.
- Represents the chapter within the community and engages in networking designed to increase chapter visibility and membership.
- Supervision of the chapter, to include overseeing development of annual budget, goals, and development of volunteer groups and special committees.
- Presides at all meetings of the Board and educational events, or directs the President Elect in his (her) absence.
- Confirm annual goals and objectives are being met. Ensures that officers and board members have necessary tools to fulfill their roles.
- Works with the President-Elect to step into the President role.
